Philip A. Giordano

Claims to fame: Ex-Mayor, Waterbury, Connecticut; failed Republican U.S. Senate candidate; child molester

Moral apex: Arraigned in 2001 on 14 federal counts of sex with children (plus additional charges of civil-rights violations).

What’s worse: The two children, both girls, were just 8 and 10 years old.

The good news: Giordano was convicted on 17 out of 18 federal charges in 2003, and sentenced to 37 years.

Even better news: That was just for his federal convictions. The state of Connecticut isn’t through with him yet.

Suggested Bible reading for Mr. Giordano:

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

— Matthew 18:6
