Jeb Bush

Claims to fame: Governor of Florida; son of the 41st President of the United States; younger brother of George W. Bush

Funny business: Appointed former Playboy bunny Cynthia Henderson as head of Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation (which oversees sale of alcoholic beverages). Switched her to Secretary of Department of Management Services. Stood by the much-hated Henderson throughout numerous ethics complaints against her (one co-worker claimed she choked him); no one can understand why, unless those widely-reported (and vehemently-denied) rumors of an affair are true.

Denouement: Henderson quit state government in 2002, after four turbulent years, to “spend more time with family” (which is political-speak meaning she was asked to resign before she was fired).

Conclusion: Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire — but, frankly, daughter Noelle’s repeated drug crimes make for much more interesting story.

Suggested Bible reading for Mr. Bush:

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

— 1 Corinthians 15:33
